We all love to look stylish but with the harmattan coming out in full force one has to adjust inorder to stay comfortable and stylish. So here are 5 tips to help you slay this season
Sunglasses-if you love sunglasses like I do then you don't need to be told about it's importance this season. It's a perfect way to protect your eyes from the sun and dust while still staying stylish. it also adds an extra Edge to an outfit.I never go out with my glasses.Sometimes I even carry two and switch it depending on the weather. So yes to sunglasses.
Petroleum jelly:I just cannot scream enough about the
importance of petroleum jelly. You can use Vaseline, pears baby oil, olive
oil or whatever works for you but make sure you use it.Imagine going out
thinking you look amazing only to find out your skin is super dry and
has that ashy/white color...not cool yeah?
I would also like to add that a good lip gloss is super necessary to avoid having cracked lips.trust me,that never looks God and can clearly lead to bruises on the lips of care is not taken. To me,this is not a good time to work super matte lipsticks and lip stains but hey, whatever works for you .
Invest in loose clothing-It always hurts my eyes to see
people inappropriately dressed during the harmattan. We all know this is
the time the sun comes to play and it's intensity gets worse around
January and February so why layer?tank tops and polo material and
generally anything that makes you sweat less should be your go to
outfit.Don't go out there dressed like it's winter when it's clearly
harmattan just to stay stylish...epic fail.
Wear less white/dust friendly colours:As much as I love
white,I know this period isn't the best for it.trust me before you get
to your destination, especially if you are living that student life, your
outfit would go from white to dusty. And the worst part is that it's
usually hard to get off.Invest in colors that cover up dirt like
burgundy,brown,black,deep purple,cobalt blue to name a few,that way you
don't have to check your cloth every second looking for dirt.Fashion
should be comfort.
Avoid too much makeup:yes we all love a good contour and
highlight but do you really want to look like melted butter all in the
name of makeup?girl the sun is glazing please keep it minimal.I really
don't know how some girls layer all that makeup under the sun and still
be comfortable. You can do a full face when you know you are going to be
in an air conditioned room for most part of the day not when you are
going to be in a cramped up class.Instead of highlighting and
contouring, apply a little foundation and powder,do your brows and apply
your lip gloss.less is more..trust me
Finally...don't forget to wear a smile.It makes you be-you-tiful
